Counterpane commissioned by Macmillan Cancer Support
A project for a new Macmillan centre in Abroath, Scotland - which takes inspiration from RL Stevenson's poem 'The Land of Counterpane', remembering childhood illness, where bedding becomes an imaginative landscape – in a gentle way these suggest scenes from the glens of Angus. The photos accompany a book of place-names and poems on names and their meanings by Alec Finlay, with the thought that the memory of the landscape remains fond and healing, even when it cannot easily be accessed, whether through illness or people coming to the end of life.
